This Week in Preserving the Feminist Internet
Learn more about the archived webpages of Pen + Brush and Plan C, and celebrate World Digital Preservation Day.
TFI recently launched our new project, Preserving the Feminist Internet, alongside our Kickstarter campaign, which was appointed one of Kickstarter’s Projects We Love! Up to our $25,000 goal, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by one of our generous supporters. Our Kickstarter is ending tomorrow, and we are about 90% of our goal!
Don’t miss your chance to support feminist digital preservation! Please consider making a gift today.
As this project develops, we’ll ingest our web captures into the TFI Digital Archive and post updates on our Substack and blog. This post will specifically explore some of the captures we’ve recently done.
Pen + Brush
Earlier this year, TFI held our first-ever Pop-Up Memory Lab at Pen + Brush (P+B). As one of our most impactful partners, we wanted to capture their digital presence to ensure their legacy is safeguarded. TFI and P+B were an easy match— P+B has been supporting women and non-binary artists for 129 years to fight for equity in the visual arts. Our communities meshed together, with artists of all different ages and practices coming into our Memory Lab to preserve their work.
P+B’s website holds an important archive of past exhibitions, literary works, blog posts, and press that paint a fuller picture of what a feminist approach to art looks like. TFI is thrilled to have P+B’s presence within our digital archive. Check out some of the captures below, or head to the object record in our digital archive.

Plan C
Plan C began in 2015 as a public health creative campaign with the goal of making abortion pills more accessible. Jump forward to June 2022, when Roe v. Wade was overturned, and Plan C’s mission became even more high-stakes. For people in states with full abortion bans, abortion pills are one of the few options— and the most affordable one.
In addition to working towards making abortions accessible for all, Plan C conducts research about abortion access and turns it into public information. They also focus on creating relationships with healthcare providers, advocating for universal access to over-the-counter abortion pills, and removing stigma. Reproductive Justice has always been front-and-center of feminist movements, so TFI couldn’t think of a better organization to capture and include in our archive.

This past Thursday, we celebrated World Digital Preservation Day, speaking on community-based digital preservation initiatives and the importance of engaging all, including those outside of libraries and archives, in the concerted effort to preserve the digital cultural record. You can read more about World Digital Preservation Day in relation to Preserving the Feminist Internet on our blog.
