TFI recently launched our new project, Preserving the Feminist Internet, alongside our Kickstarter campaign, which was, last week, appointed one of Kickstarter’s Projects We Love! Up to our $25,000 goal, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by one of our generous supporters.
As this project develops, we’ll ingest our web captures into the TFI Digital Archive and post updates on our Substack and blog. This post will specifically explore some of the captures we’ve recently done.
Michelle Pred
Michele Pred is a Swedish-American conceptual artist whose practice includes sculpture, assemblage, and performance. Her work uncovers the cultural and political meaning behind everyday objects, concentrating on feminist themes such as equal pay, reproductive rights, and personal security. Pred generously donated one of her iconic “Pro-Choice” bags from her limited edition series, The Power of the Purse, bags to TFI’s 2023 raffle. The purses are meant to be carried and serve as small-scale political billboards, which reflects Pred’s commitment to social activism through her art. As such, Pred’s website is an essential addition to TFI’s ongoing archival collection of feminist websites.

Tiffany Shlain
Tiffany Shlain is a multidisciplinary artist, internet pioneer, the co-founder of the Webby Awards, and the founder of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. We captured Shlain’s website and the site documenting DENDROFEMONOLOGY: A Feminist History Tree Ring, a four-day event organized by Shlain’s Let it Ripple Studio, the National Women’s History Museum, and Women Connect4Good. DENDROFEMONOLOGY aims to inspire and galvanize people to stand together as allies and #ReclaimOurHistory and #VoteOurFuture. The Feminist Institute is a proud partner of DENDROFEMONOLOGY, which takes place in Washington, DC, from November 1 to 4, 2023.
